Who owns the Companion
The recipient. Buying the book does not give the purchaser automatic access. If you give it, you do not see their private memories unless they invite you later.
Book and Companion
Write first. Open the Companion only if you want to.
The book is the product you hold. The Digital Companion comes with it as Companion Basic — extra room for photos, voice, video, and family notes that paper cannot keep well.
Receive the book
It arrives ready to use. If this is a gift, leave it wrapped. The person who opens it is the one who can claim the Companion.
Write in it
Start on any page. Skip what does not fit. Glue in photographs. Use the short photo path if a full book feels like too much right now.
Optional: open the Companion
Selected pages include a printed code. Scan it, tap the activation card, or type the code. That opens a private Companion for that household — not a public page, and not a social feed.
What never goes in a link
Child names, birth dates, and household emails do not belong in codes, web addresses, or tap payloads. Codes are ordinary product codes, not a child's identity.
What a scan is for
A monthly opening can take you to that month. A section code can open extra photos or a longer arrival story. You can still return to the paper page and write a short note there. The Companion is a pocket, not a replacement.
Family can be invited to one memory at a time. They do not receive the whole archive.
